Art Speaks

April 21, 2020 Uncategorized

We cannot see pain, we can only feel it. Whether it be dance, painting, writing, music, or singing, art has a way of capturing our authentic voice, our experiences converging it to its intended audience. An audience of you or to many others. Either way the tangible or intangible output can create a visual or aural translation of our pain. We own the output. We own the art. No one can say you can’t feel or see. If even for a moment, while art is being created, we control it. It’s a powerful mechanism of displacement. Ever wonder why when a watching a dancer, listening to spoken word or music or, looking at art, some people are overwhelmed with emotions. Somewhere, somehow art has spoken to a part of them, that had no words- speaking to a moment, and experience. Various forms of art can transcend thoughts and attaches to the heart in such a way that we are invited to feel the expression.

Pain or hurts if not expressed can manifest in other areas of your life. For me, I use my writing to express my hurts and it has helped me “see” my pain and tell it how it made me feel. It acts a form of release, and unveils a hidden truth. It’s a truthful assertion of a point view, no judgment. It allows me to control the conversation and assert its position. Writing speaks to my hurts, and it does not answer back. An artistic person is usually connected far beyond a one dimensional view. We connect the dots because we understand, words, movements, strokes, and that art is intentional.
